Roy Halbrooks, 102, of Hatton passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at the funeral home with Bro. Mike Owens and Pastor Mike Price officiating. A graveside service will follow at Old Liberty Cemetery with Pastor Larry Crumpton officiating.
A member of Redemption Baptist Church, Roy taught Sunday School for twenty two plus years. He was inducted into the Lawrence County Basketball Hall of Fame along with his entire team. Roy was an avid fox hunter and also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his sons, Starlin Halbrooks and Sol Halbrooks; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Owens; several nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lou Oliver Halbrooks, children, Carther Franks, Brenda Marion, and Phyllis Redding.
Pallbearers will be Danny Allen, Keith Halbrooks, Scott Halbrooks, Jacob Smith, Hunter LaRoche and Cody Posey.
