Kelly Wilson Hovater, 88, of Mt. Hope passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Shoals Hospital. Visitation will be from 12 till 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with John Marshall and Gene Franks officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Methodist Cemetery.
A member of Mt. Hope Church of Christ, Mr. Hovater enjoyed farming and was a school bus driver for 29 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Nette Hovater; sons, Jeff Hovater (Glenda) of Mt. Hope and Mark Hovater of Falkville; daughter, Anita Hill (Stanley) of Oneonta; brother, Vernon Hovater of Russellville; sisters, Lucille Hargett of Red Bay and Betty Massey of Memphis, Tenn.; granddaughters, Amy Moore, Abby Hovater and Kerri Hovater; grandson, Briar Hill; great grandsons, Brian Moore and Zachary Moore; great granddaughters, Madison Moore and Alyssa Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenard Dallas and Bertha Hovater; and son, Kerry Hovater.
Pallbearers will be Mike Moore, Gene Franks, Jimmy Stancil, Jerry Purser, Allen Pickens, Bill Wimberly, and Donnie Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers are Fred Donaldson and James Bendall.
