Bro. Lloyd Mitchell, 89, of Moulton went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at North Alabama Medical Center. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Waymon Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Gargis Cemetery.
Born on July 18, 1930 to the late Irvin and Lona Mae Mitchell, Bro. Lloyd was the founder of the Singing Mitchell Family group. He was a member of the Decatur First Holy Church of Christ and served as a minister for many years. Bro. Mitchell will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Louise Mitchell; children, Danny Mitchell (Pam), Sharon Terry, Shelby Horton, Darriel Mitchell (Robin) and Dewayne Mitchell (Susan); nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; three sisters; five brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bro. Lloyd was preceded in death by his sons-in-law, Troy Terry and Faron Horton; one sister and four brothers.
Pallbearers will be Brannon Horton, Brent Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Hunter Mitchell, Chris Johnson, Jason Logston and Zack Cooper.
