Andy was born in Moulton, AL to Billy Clark and Vona Elkins. Andy grew up on his family farm and was a vital part of the operation, working from a young age in the row crop, cattle, and hog operations. He learned a love for horses from his father and grandfather and joined them in raising performance and pleasure quarter horses. Through the years, he carried on the family legacy showing pleasure horses and competing with the best in cutting and roping. He was recognized by the FFA with the National Horse Proficiency Award in Kansas City, Kansas and continued to train many horses for the public.
Andy was also active in 4-H livestock shows, competing from a young age and passing that tradition along to his children. As he continued to work on the four generational family farm, he was elected and served as President of the Lawrence County Cattleman's Association.
He was married to his high school sweetheart, Jeanne Compton, and they started a life together devoted to raising their children and grandchildren in the same traditions of livestock showings, farming, hunting, fishing and sports. Andy was an excellent athlete and passed his love for sports along to those children, coaching and volunteering with their many teams.
Andy was passionate about his hobbies, including deer and bird hunting. His annual dove hunt at the farm was known for the birds, the good food and family fellowship. Andy started "Quail Oaks" hunting preserve with his love for good bird dogs and guided many hunters on wonderful quail hunts on the farm. He loved to play golf and made many special friends and "golfing buddies."
He was a devoted husband to Jeanne and loving father to his children. He gave his life to Jesus when he was seventeen and was a member at Moulton Baptist Church where he served as treasurer.
Andy worked for General Motors for thirty years and after retirement he shared his knowledge of farming and livestock working for other local farmers and cattlemen.
