Denise Cantrell Smith

Barbara "Denise" Smith, 73, of Decatur, Alabama passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at her residence. A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.

Born on November 1, 1950, to Felton and Jewell Morris Cantrell, Denise enjoyed entertaining her friends and family by cooking for them. Denise especially enjoyed her church family at the Summer Manor apartments.

Survivors include her brother, Andy Cantrell (Sarah), of Mount Hope; two nieces, Paige Cantrell (Becky) and Andrea Cantrell Weathers (Jimmy); three great-nieces, Lexi Cantrell, Brenley Cantrell, and Leah Weathers; one great nephew, Wesley Weathers (Lori); and several friends, neighbors, and extended family members.

Denise was preceded in death by her father, Felton Cantrell; mother Jewell Cantrell Lanier; step-father, Virgel Lanier; and one sister, Cathy Cantrell Ponton.
