Cecil Ashley

Cecil Ray Ashley, 79, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, at Decatur Morgan Hospital Decatur, AL. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:30 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Charles Williams and Waymon Ashley officiating. Burial will be at Old Town Creek Cemetery.

Born on November 24, 1944, to Troy and Eloise Dover Ashley, Cecil was an avid wood worker who took pride in his work. He even built his family home with his own two hands. Above all Cecil enjoyed spending time with his wife, grandchildren, family, and especially the Lord.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lorene Ashley; one daughter, Terri (Gary) Ashley, daughter-in-law, Cindy Ashley; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Nadine Ashley; two brothers, Waymon Ashley and Wayne (Bonnie) Ashley; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Ashley; one daughter, Tracy Lyn Ashley; two brothers, Wendell Ashley and Charles Ashley; and sister-in-law, Melba Ashley.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital especially the second floor PVC unit, CCI staff, and especially Dr. Rishi Patel. We would also like the thank our Pleasant Ridge Church family, all of our family, friends, community, and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Church Fund.
