Charlsey Ellis

January 22, 1951 — September 21, 2025

Charlsey Ellis, 74, of Moulton passed away Sunday, Sepetember 21, 2025 at River City Center in Decatur, AL.

Charlsey loved to create exquisite flower gardens, spend time with her children and grandchildren along with sharing the knowledge of Jesus. She enjoyed books, drinking numerous cups of coffee while sitting outdoors listening to the sounds of nature and music. She enjoyed her adventures and riding motorcycles with Roger. She loved to gain knowledge, and often enjoyed putting us all to work in her flower gardens. She had some amazing dance moves and appreciated the simpler things in life, such as cool country breezes, Alabama football, the Chicago Bears, and her cigarettes. Charlsey was known for her unbreakable determination and her self independence, persisting until she was embraced by Jesus. We find solace in the knowledge that Momma is now cultivating a stunning garden alongside her mother and daughter. May she rejoice in Heaven with her loved ones and soar on the wings of the angels.

Charlsey is survived by her children: Sylvia Smith, Benjamin Smith (Melanie) and Matthew Smith, and her grandchildren: Brian Reed, Bradley Reed (Brenda), Nikki Reed, Tori Moss (Adam), Bethany Biar (Chase), Michael Smith (Morgan Chalus), Eddie Smith, Destiny Smith, Jordan Mulder(Morgan) Toby, Kylie, Ivy Mulder, Roxie Smith (Alice & Lucian), Kimberly Smith, Joshua Smith (Kara), Denise Jackson, and 16 great-grandchildren, one brother, stepsons Josh and Mark Ellis, Shelia Clayton (her Soul-Sister), her lifelong special friend, and the father of her children, Benjamin Dair Smith.

Charlsey is preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Smith, her parents Dessa and John Gillott, two husbands: James Abner and Roger Ellis, granddaughter Lexi Smith, grandson JR Reed, and several brothers and sisters.
