Evoin Montgomery Grinfin, 82, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025 at her home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Flower Hill Primitive Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Elder Dewayne Garth officiating. A private burial will be at Smyrna Cemetery.
Born on January 22, 1943 to the late James and Eunice Payne Montgomery, Evoin grew up in Lang Town and attended Chalybeate Spring High School. She loved her church family at Flower Hill Primitive Church where she enjoyed singing and the fellowship more than anyone could imagine. Evoin also loved to dance, work in her flowers and cooking, but most of all she really liked to take care of people.
Survivors include her children, Roy (Lynn) Grinfin, Melinda (Mark) Mason, Carolyn (David) Murphree, and Troy Grinfin; grandchildren, Deklyn Grinfin, Jennifer (Chuck) Mitchell, Melissa (Jimmy) Mason, Tiffany Harris, Johnathan Murphree, and Tyler Simmons; great-grandchildren, Eli Simmons, Dawson Mason, Julian Mason, Nash Simmons, Nathan Murphree, and Anabella Murphree; sister, Marjorie (Greg) Wimberly; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Evoin was preceded in death by her husband, James Grinfin; parents; sisters, Elease Copeland, Virginia Smith, and Pauline Murphree; brothers, Freeman Montgomery, and George Burden.
Pallbearers will be Mark Mason, Jared Darnell, Heath Darnell, Riley Darnell, Mike Davis, and Benny Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Collins, Edward Davis, Ledon Robertson, and Danny Davis.
The family extends special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Rhonda and Edward Davis, and her church family at Flower Hill.
