Harold Lovice Martin, 80, of Moulton passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Hatton Church of Christ. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Hatton Church of Christ with Ben Phillips officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Rock Springs Cemetery in Mount Hope.
Born on May 9, 1943, to Lovice and Alice Benton Martin, Harold was a faithful christian servant and member at Landersville Church of Christ. He held many roles there that he loved and enjoyed. He worked at Amoco Chemical for 34 years and had been retired for 26 years.
In high school Harold enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. He also Coached his daughter and his grandsons in sporting events and always supported them in all that they did. He was inducted into the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame. His love of sports showered down to many youth where he shared the love of the game. He was an avid Auburn Tigers fan.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sarah Elkins Martin; daughter, Melanie Martin (Steven) Little; two grandsons, Micah (Callie) Little and Martin (Erika) Little; great-grandchildren, Emmaline Little and Harper Little; brother by choice, J.W. (Gearldean) Portwood; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Lovice and Alice Martin; and one brother, Ronald Martin.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Portwood, Allen Pickens, Lanier Sibley, Andy Elkins, Tim Taylor, Murry Morrow, Donnie Mitchell, and Wilmer Tharke.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Amedisys Hospice, especially nurses Heidi, Jason, and Julie. The family also would like to give a big Thank You to our granddaughter-in-love, Callie for the care and love that she gave to "Big Daddy".
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Childhaven in Cullman, or the Rock Springs Cemetery Fund.
