Hazel Genelle Jeffreys, 85, of Town Creek passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Shoals Hospital. Visitation will be from to 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Phil Kimbrough officiating. Burial will be in Hardshell Cemetery.

Hazel was a uniquely sweet, kind, and gentle woman who will be dearly missed by her family and community. Those who knew her experienced Hazel’s beauty, inside and out, and were privy to her patience and thoughtfulness. She understood how lovely this world could be, and her affectionate curiosity about this earth and the people in it prompted her to explore the world both through travel and the written word. She loved her family fiercely and encouraged hard work and education, and though these things took her family in different directions, she always reminded all of us exactly where home remained.  A strong-willed and stubborn woman, her life was her own until the very last of her days, and though she left this world peacefully, it was not without a fight. She has left a void, and will be missed.

She leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Edard Jeffreys Jr.; her daughter Edwina Bressette and her husband Bernard Bressette; her son David Jeffreys and his wife, Kim Jeffreys; four grandchildren: Joshua Jeffreys, John David Jeffreys and his wife Whitney Jeffreys, Chris Bressette and his wife Misty Bressette, and Keri Bressette; three great-grandchildren: Isla Jeffreys, Brayden Bressette, and Kaylee Bressette; and many close friends.
