James King

James Herman King, 81, of Courtland, Alabama passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Decatur Morgan Hospital Decatur, AL. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Steve Agee and Bobby McIntyre officiating. Burial will be at Courtland Memory Gardens.

Born on November 23, 1941, to Leonard and Annie Gaddy King, James was a member of Old Bethel Church. James was a loving husband and father to his children and his special children. He enjoyed watching baseball, tending to his cows and chickens, and was the hardest worker.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Diana Baker King; two daughters, Sherry Martin, Brenda Terry (Terry), and Dennis King (Kathleen); grandchildren, James King and Rachel King; special children, Melissa Ricks, Blake Holland, Crystal Woodruff, Kandace Dillard, and Hayden Pierce; three sisters, Bertha Houston, Dorothy Shearer, and Margaret Kemper; two brothers, LC King (Sandy) and Felton King (Donna); and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Annie Gaddy King; and many siblings.

Pallbearers will be Hayden Pierce, David Woodruff, Blake Holland, Tory Ricks, Bodie Ricks, Shane Terry, Jacob McCullough, and Daniel Porter.

The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
