John Sexton

John Edward Sexton, 77, of Athens, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Athens Limestone Hospital. The family is planning a celebration of life service at a later date.

Born on April 5, 1947 to the late Edward and Alice Welch Sexton, John was a veteran of the US Air Force and while working for Boeing, he helped build the lab in the US Space Station.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Vicki Sexton; sons, Sean Sexton, and Aaron Sexton; step-son, Larry Martin; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Simpson; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Peter John Sexton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Love and Animals in Tanner, Alabama.
