Peanut Smith

Louie "Peanut" Alter Smith III, 57, of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, suddenly and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Josh McGuire officiating.

Born on March 4, 1969, to Louie and Hilda Brooks Smith Jr., Peanut was a hardworking man who loved his family and friends. He worked at Indorama for almost 20 years, and Ascend for several years. Peanut enjoyed watching the Alabama Crimson Tide with it on mute and hearing Eli Gold make the announcments, with his mama, and giving his brother a hard time when they played Auburn. He was a comedian, and an avid nickname giver. You knew Peanut loved you if you had a nickname. His hobby was work to insure he took care of his family, and he always made time for his grandchildren's sporting events. Peanut left us too soon and we'll cherish the memories he gave us.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Jessica "Babs" Pace Smith; his mommy poo, Hilda Smith; children, Jordan "Jo Jo" (Daniel) Jones, Courtney "Cordrou" (Riley) Burrows, Molly "Mo Mo" (Justin) Dutton, and Wesley "Wes Wes" (Jewel) Rutherford; grandchildren, Adelyn "Addy B" Hollis, Abri "Rella" Rutherford, Isaac "Ize Man" Jones, Sutton "Sutt Butt" Jones, Samson "Sam Bam" Jones, and "my girls" Wrenley and Brayley Rutherford; brother, Richard (Gina) Smith; nephews, Hayden, Colton, and Landon Smith, and Clay Pace; nieces, Julia and Sadie Pace; mother-in-law, Soonthorn "Soon Ton Polly Pon" Pace; brother-in-law, Randy (Beth) Pace; and extended family.

Peanut was preceded in death by his father, Louie Smith Jr.; grandson, Walker Jones; and father-in-law, Clayton Pace.

Honorary Pallbearers are Daniel Jones, Justin Dutton, Hayden Smith, Colton Smith, Landon Smith, and his "work husband", Lewis Allison.
