Margaret Jane Martin, 95, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 28.
Born on November 10, 1929, in Mt. Hope, Alabama, as number seven of thirteen children, Margaret lived a life marked by deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her steadfast trust in the Lord was a shining testimony to all who knew her.
Margaret's faith carried her through life's many challenges, and it was the foundation upon which she built her marriage, raised her family, and served her church. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, James Wiley Martin for 75 years, and a cherished mother and grandmother.
Granny, as she was known to her family, found great joy in the simple, meaningful moments-spending time with her grandchildren, tending the family garden, or spotting a butterfly on a sunny day. She loved to cook and blessed many with her delicious meals made in the warmth of her kitchen - her fried chicken, banana pudding, and apple pie were unmatched!
Margaret was also the oldest living member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a choir member, soloist, children's teacher, and tireless prayer warrior.
Survivors include her husband, James Wiley Martin; her son, Timothy James Martin, Sr. (Lynne); and her grandchildren, Meredith Lynne Martin, Mallory Anne Martin, Timothy James Martin, Jr., and Thomas Houston Martin (Leanne).
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Baptist Church with Bro. Jonathan Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mt. Hope Baptist Church Local Ministry Fund.
