April 24, 1937 — June 6, 2026

Mary Lee Chamness, 89, of Wren, Alabama passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Darren Sparks, Jamey Reeves, and Steve Agee officiating. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens.

Born on April 24, 1937, to Thomas and Rosa Mae Hyde Woodard. Mary was always hardworking and had a deep love for her family and all her babies. She always said, "God is love, and I love everyone."

A devoted Christian, she lived her life guided by her faith in God. She found strength, comfort, and purpose in her relationship with the Lord, and her faith was evident in the way she loved and cared for others. She was a faithful example of kindness, compassion, and grace to everyone who knew her. Mary was a member of Victory Baptist Church and loved to read her Bible and Daily Bread. She loved to attend tent revivals and brush arbors whenever she had the chance.

Mary had a remarkable gift for loving others. She was the heart of her family and a source of unconditional love, kindness, and strength for everyone. The greatest joy of her life was her family. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces/nephews, and anyone who ever came to visit. She never missed an opportunity to show you how much you meant to her, whether it was one of her tight, loving hugs or a hot home-cooked meal. She loved to cook and never wanted anyone to leave hungry.

Besides her family, her greatest passion was first to serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved to listen to gospel music. She loved to listen to music that reflected her faith in the Lord and never missed a chance to tell anyone what he had done for her. She had a special way to make everyone feel loved and valued. She was a beautiful example of Christ's love, and her life was a testimony to her faith in the Lord, with kindness, love, and acceptance for all.

Though we are heartbroken here on Earth, we know she is rejoicing in heaven with loved ones she has missed for so long. We find comfort in all the memories she leaves behind and the love she poured into everyone. Her legacy of love and faith will be cherished by everyone forever. We have peace that we will see her again and be with her in eternity in heaven.
