Phillip Athanasius Harris

Phillip Athanasius Harris, 79, of Moulton, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026 at his home. A Memorial Mass will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Resurrection Catholic Chapel with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Fergason Cemetery.
Born on September 25, 1946 to the late Albert and Orian Strickland Harris, Phillip served in the US Army during Vietnam as an MP. He also worked as a Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service until his retirement. A very devout Catholic, Phillip loved reading and was a history buff. He enjoyed visiting historic places whenever he could and listening to all types of music. Most of all, Phillip was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Loretta Harris; daughters, Autumn (Jonathan) Cornett, Michelle Harris, and Annita (Roy) Rothenberger; grandchildren, Nicholas Eggers, Zach Rothenberger, and Katie (Garrett) O'Brien; great-grandchildren, Liam O'Brien, and Eli O'Brien; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Harris; brothers, Junior Emerson and Warner Emerson; and sister, Hazel Ballard.
The family extends special thanks to his nurses and caregivers, Sarah Huff, Sarah Hillis and Otto.
