Sarah Nell Martin, 81, of Mount Hope, went to be with her Lord at her home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Rock Springs Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church with Rev. Debbie Williams and Bro. Jess Smith officiating. Burial will be at Rock Springs Cemetery.
Known for her love and generosity to all those she came in contact with, she was a vital member of the Mount Hope Community for nearly 82years. Sarah was born in Moulton to the late Eldred and Gladys Jackson Elkins on June 15, 1943 and was married to the late Harold Martin on July 17, 1962.
She was mother to Melanie (Steven) Little; grandmother to Micah (Callie) Little, and Martin (Erika) Little; great-grandmother to Emmaline Little, Harper Little, and Trey Little. She is survived by her sister, Jane Elkins Stephens; sister-in-law, Vona Elkins; and nieces, Beth Stockton, Penny Fields, and Lori Taylor. Sarah was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Clark Elkins; brother-in-law, Gary Stephens, and nephew, Andy Elkins.
Sarah was a lifelong member of Rock Springs Presbyterian Church and was Christ's Servant to all. She graduated from Mount Hope High School and later studied data processing. She was a teacher's aid at Mount Hope and served in the Farmer's Federation for Women.
Sarah was a consummate homemaker and hostess and was a devoted partner to her husband Harold. Together they served their family, friends, and the entire Mount Hope Community throughout their lives. Sarah was a loyal friend and was known for her delicious tea cakes and the meals she prepared for those in need. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, a sympathetic ear, and provide sage, homespun advice. Sarah adored her family and lived among them where she spent countless hours playing with and caring for her grandkids and great-grandkids. She devoted her life to loving others and she will be greatly missed by all.
Pallbearers will be Chad Elkins, Chase Elkins, Tim Taylor, J W Portwood, Allen Pickens, and Lynn Stockton. Honorary pallbearers are Preston Long, Collin Elkins, Cole Murphy, and William Murphy.
The family extends special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and Callie Little.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Springs Cemetery Fund.
