Virginia Lee Lovelady

Virginia Lee Lovelady, 90, of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Friday, September 25, 2026, at The Cottage of the Shoals. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Gary Parker officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Town Creek.

Born on July 7, 1936, to William and Myrtle Beavers Farley. Virginia Lee Lovelady passed away peacefully, leaving behind a loving family and a legacy of faith, family, and service to her community.

Virginia was a longtime member of the Hatton community and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was also a longtime staff member of the Hatton High School cafeteria, where she was known and appreciated by many.

Virginia loved flowers and gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. She also had a special love for Alabama football.

Survivors include her children, James A. (Angela) Lovelady Jr., Dr. Steve R. (Nita) Lovelady, and Michael L. (LeeAnne) Lovelady; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Thelma Cagle; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Lovelady Sr.; parents, William and Myrtle Farley; brothers, William Farley Jr. and Hershell Farley; and one sister, Melba Kerby.

Pallbearers will be Chris Lovelady, Zach Lovelady, Chad Lovelady, Josh Lovelady, Gunner Lovelady, Stephen Lovelady, Caleb Lovelady, and Chet Terry.

The family extends special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at North Alabama Medical Center and The Cottage of the Shoals.
