Obituary

Mary-Frances Adair was born April 17, 1998 in Decatur Alabama. And although the doctors only gave her a 1 in 10 chance of surviving until her first birthday, Mary-Frances was determined to prove them all wrong. She in fact made it beyond her twenty third birthday. Mary-Frances went to Heaven on Monday, September 6, 2021.

There are people who have so many blessings, and yet don’t appreciate them. They have good health but take it for granted. They can walk, but don’t know which way to go. They have arms but cannot use them to reach out to others. They can speak, but don’t know how to tell others they love them. That wasn’t a problem for Mary-Frances. She could express her love with a look, with a smile, with a coo. The twinkle in her eye could say more than a paragraph. Love isn’t only shared through words. Love is much deeper than words. Mary-Frances was sent here to show what true love really is.

Mary-Frances found joy in the simple things. Having graduated in 2018, she loved school and the many friends she made there. Like her momma, she loved sweets. Her sister, Genney could make her laugh by doing “sissy sandwiches.” Her two favorite things were the pool and her daddy.

Mary-Frances gave us the gift of beauty. Her life wasn’t easy or glamorous. There were a lot of hard times, for her and for her family. But she taught us that we can see past the difficulties and find the beauty, for there is always beauty. Just as one may look out at the rain and see storm clouds, gray skies, and dreariness. With a deeper look they can see how that rain nourishes the earth, settles the seeds, and gives them roots so they can grow… and remember that by enduring the storm that we are lucky enough to see the rainbow. Mary-Frances was our rainbow. Through the tough times, through the adversity and the challenges and the pain, she shone through with a special light. We can be assured that like the rainbow, she was a blessing from above. We can both mourn the loss of her life and we can celebrate the life she led and the lessons she gave us. For the best gift she gave us, was her very life. She was a gift. For all the ways she taught us about life and love, for all the ways she inspired us to be better, and for all the love she gave while she was here with us, she was a gift to each of us.

Mary-Frances Adair was preceded in death by her Gandaddy, Hoyt Adair and her Mimi, Deborah Pankey. She leaves behind her parents Jason & Heather Adair, sister Genney Adair, Papa Kyle Pankey, Ganmomma Franny Adair and one very special person chosen by love, not blood, Jo Dunlap.
