Sheila Compton

Sheila Ann McWhorter Compton, 72, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at her home in Moulton. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Moulton Church of Christ, 597 Main Street in Moulton. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the church with Lawrence Funeral Home assisting with arrangements. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens.

Born on September 27, 1949 to Ray and Ruby Butler McWhorter, Sheila was a lifelong resident of Moulton, Alabama and a member of Moulton Church of Christ. She graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1967 and attended cosmetology school immediately after. Sheila owned and operated her beauty shop for almost 50 years. She enjoyed working in her flowers and yard, cooking for her family, and spending time in Gulf Shores at her beach house Tide Together. She also loved her many travels with her husband, but most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. From sporting events to recitals, countless birthdays, holidays and beach trips, Sheila loved every minute with her family. Spending time with them was her greatest joy.

She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband Boyd, of 55 years; children, Haley James (Dan) and Sam Compton (Heather); grandchildren, Daniel James, Laura Ann James, Katherine Compton; father, Ray McWhorter; siblings, Tim McWhorter (Melba), Reta Blevins (Buster), Ricky McWhorter (Sherry); nieces, Misty Phillips, Kelly Shelton, Sally Rae Darnell, and Sara McWhorter; nephews, Les Blevins, Joe Paul Blevins, and William McWhorter; and a large extended family and friends.

Sheila is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Lee McWhorter; and niece, Suzanne Blevins.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family extends special thanks to her nurses and the staff at the Congestive Heart Center at Huntsville Hospital, especially nurse Marie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moulton Church of Christ.
