Steven Jay Newton, 60, of Brunswick, GA passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at his home. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Elmwood Cemetery in Town Creek with Jason McAbee officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on January 19, 1962, Staff Sergeant Steven Newton served in the US Army for over 13 years and was an Avenger Crew Member. He worked at Georgia Pacific for over 10 years as a core handler. He loved classic Rock and Roll music and the “original” San Diego Chargers. Steven also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cookouts with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Georgianna Newton; step children, Brenda Barlow (Jeff), John Henderson (Karen), Sharon Henderson, and Jeffrey Henderson; grandchildren, Shelby Barlow, Madison Barlow, Anslie Henderson Leverette (James), Katherine Henderson Popham (James), Hayden Henderson, Grace Ann Henderson, Julia Henderson Barber (Hayden), Abbey Henderson, and Reagan Henderson; great grandson, Elliot Henderson Barber; soon to arrive great-granddaughter, Magnolia Mae Popham; mother, Shirley Rose Brackin; brothers, Paul Newton (Cindy) and Albert Newton; and sister-in-law, Katie Yarbrough.

Steven was preceded in death by his brother, David Newton and step father, Gary Brackin.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Barlow, John Henderson, Jeffrey Henderson, Paul Newton, Randy McAbee, and Charles Rose.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
